Natalie’s Pull List 1/11/2017

I’m a bit behind on reading some of my titles and am trying to avoid spoilers until I catch up a bit more.  Until I’m able to get back to weekly reviews for fun here is my Pull/Pass/Back Issue lists for the DC Comics that came out this week.  I’ve left a little note beside the few issues that I read.  I wish I could buy all the books but I’m like most people and have only X amount of money to spend on comics every month.  Here’s how I prioritized this week.

Pulled [Books I preordered.]:

  1. Action Comics #971
  2. Detective Comics #948
  3. The Flash #14
  4. Justice League Of America Vixen Rebirth #1 [Ok story with nice art.]
  5. Justice League Power Rangers #1 (of 6) [What was I thinking when I ordered this? It did sorta make me laugh. I’ll have to reserve judgement on this until the story is complete.]
  6. Scooby Apocalypse #9
  7. Titans #7 [Great scenes with Wally/Superman and Donna/Roy. Something about the art feels a tad rough? Maybe the muted colors?]
  8. Wonder Woman #14

Passed On [Books I had no interest in.]:

  1. Batgirl And The Birds Of Prey #6
  2. Deathstroke #10
  3. Gotham Academy Second Semester #5
  4. Justice League Vs Suicide Squad #4 (of 6)
  5. New Super-Man #7
  6. Suicide Squad #9

To the Back Issue List [Books I wanted but I had to draw the line somewhere.  I’ll buy you when I have some extra cash, promise!]:

  1. All-Star Batman #6
  2. Earth 2 Society #20
  3. Hal Jordan And The Green Lantern Corps #12
  4. Red Hood And The Outlaws #6
  5. Supergirl #5
  6. Superwoman #6

Natalie’s Week in Comics 8/10/2016

I’ve been so busy I didn’t have anytime to post the last couple of weeks but hopefully I’ll be able to get back on track this week as I gradually get my new schedule strait.  I’m even a little behind on reading my comics so I’m picking back up with the issues that came out on 8/10/2016…

Wonder Woman #4 – The Retelling is going strong.

The Flintstones #2 – Dark and yet cute at the same time.

The Flash #4 – I’m kind of afraid of getting too attached to all of these new speedsters… although I’m liking most of them.  Just hope Godspeed isn’t…

Superwoman #1 – Well.  That was crazy.  Must know what happens next.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #1 – Pretty good with an interesting cliffhanger.

New Super-Man #2 – Still not feeling this one.

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #2 – Pretty interesting.

Detective Comics #938 – Ok, but I’m way more interested in Red Robin than Batwoman.

Deathstroke: Rebirth #1 – I usually don’t do villain stories but this was pretty good.

All-Star Batman #1 – Eehh… I’m not sure about this; the dialog feels really off to me.  It just doesn’t feel like Batman’s voice.

Action Comics #961 – This story just keeps on getting better.  I’m really enjoying it.

And rating them in the order that I like them is always hard but I settled on:

  1. Superwoman #1
  2. Action Comics #961
  3. Wonder Woman #4
  4. The Flash #4
  5. The Flintstones #2
  6. Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #2
  7. Detective Comics #938
  8. Red Hood and the Outlaws #1
  9. Deathstroke: Rebirth #1
  10. All-Star Batman #1
  11. New Super-Man #2

Now I just really need to get caught up to this week’s issues before wednesday gets here….

Natalie’s Wednesday in Comics 6/22/2016

Just five issues this week for me… and they are all DC books.  And how do I rank them you ask?

Natalie’s Comic Rankings for 6/22/2016

  1. Flash #1
  2. Detective Comics #935
  3. Action Comics #958
  4. Wonder Woman #1
  5. Aquaman #1

Flash was my favorite of the week because it felt like it flowed the best.  Detective Comics is slowly gaining my interest, but I’m not sure how I feel about the mud room.  Action Comics is still holding my interest with the mysteries there.  I felt a little lost with the Wonder Woman issue, probably because I’m just not that familiar with her supporting cast.  Aquaman felt slow to me and a bit frustrating like you just want them to hurry up and get to something interesting; this title might lose me if they don’t pick up the pace.

On a personal collecting note, I finally spent a day this week trying to gather up all of the comics that are presently in my home and organise them a little in anticipation of starting the cataloging process. — The problem is way worse than I thought… I bought 5 short boxes, 300 bags, and 300 boards to start with.  I used them all and still have loose books lying around.  I haven’t even gotten over to my parents house to go through those books yet, or the ones in my storage unit.  I’m going to go broke just bagging/boarding/boxing them all.

Natalie’s Wednesday in Comics 6/8/2016

New Comics:

It’s new comic book day!  Mostly reading the DC Rebirth storylines this week.  So first let me rank these comics in the order that I enjoyed them the most.

Natalie’s Comic Rankings for 6/8/2016

  1. Action Comics #957

  2. The Flash Rebirth #1

  3. Wonder Woman Rebirth #1

  4. Aquaman Rebirth #1

  5. Detective Comics #934

  6. Wacky Raceland #1

And briefly some thoughts about these issues.  Wacky Raceland was a little too grim-dark for me.  Detective Comics just didn’t do anything standout, kind of feel meh about the character line up.  Aquaman was ok but seemingly written for absolute new readers,  nothing exciting for old fans but good if you knew nothing about the character.  The other three were hard to rank, all of them introduced interesting plot threads, and I’m really looking forward to the continuations of those books.

Back Issues:

This week I got a mystery box of 50 dc comics off of ebay.  They are all New 52 books.  I haven’t had a chance to sit down and read any of them yet but they cost less than $1 each. Looks like I got a small run of Swamp Thing so I might read those first.  I was sorta surprised the seller included a few #0 and #1 issues.
