DC Universe: Brightest Day [Updated 4/7/19]

I’m twenty issues into Brightest Day now and I’m just reminded of how much I loved this era of comics.  The first issues are kind of a set up of who’s involved and where they are.  Then you get the first small arc of it that plays out in space with the Green Lantern Corps and the Alpha Lanterns [OMG, do I find the Alpha Lanterns horrifying. :-(]  Now we are getting into what’s going on with the return of Jade, Alan Scott’s daughter, and also the Dick Grayson Batman era of the Justice League.   It’s just fun, ya know?  😉

Brightest Day

This is a story-line that started in 2010 and directly followed the events of the Darkest Night event story-line.  Twelve resurrected characters are the focus of the story.

DC Universe has listed 116 issues for this story-line.  I plan on listing them here as I read so I can keep up with it.

  1. Brightest Day #0
  2. Justice League: Generation Lost #1
  3. Justice League: Generation Lost #2
  4. Green Lantern #53
  5. Green Lantern Corps #48
  6. Brightest Day #1
  7. Green Lantern #54
  8. Green Lantern #55
  9. Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors #1
  10. Brightest Day (2010-) #2
  11. Brightest Day (2010-) #3
  12. Green Lantern Corps (2006-) #49
  13. Green Lantern Corps (2006-) #50
  14. Green Lantern Corps (2006-) #51
  15. Green Lantern Corps (2006-) #52
  16. Justice League Of America (2006-) #44
  17. Justice League Of America (2006-) #45
  18. Titans: Villains For Hire Special (2010-) #1
  19. Justice League Of America (2006-) #46
  20. Justice Society Of America (2006-) #41

I've been reading and collecting comics since the early 1980's. My absolute favorite comic characters are Dick Grayson, and Kitty Pryde, but I like lots of others too! I started collecting single issue comics when I was about 7 or 8 years old and it's been a lifelong passion of mine.

  1. I’ve a feeling you’re gonna (eventually) get me checking some of these out. 🙂

I feel woefully behind on my reading, period, let alone getting 20 issues read in such a short time as you’ve managed. I consciously know that I’ve read the 3 Brightest Day collections, but other than several of the early chapters in other titles, not truly sure how far I’d made it. Quite certain I had NOT gotten to any of the Dick-as-Batman Justice League issues. That does sound like some fun stuff!

    1. I have more free-time some days than others. We’ll have to see if I can keep up the momentum and how I feel about the stories by the halfway point. Right now with the JLA stuff I feel like the characterization and dialog is really good but I’m not so sure about the story itself, if that makes any sense. 🙂
