The Flash #62-65 – Born to Run!

Reading Format:

DC Universe App

Story […very briefly.]

Origin Story of Wally West and his transformation from Kid Flash to The Flash.

Art [Just IMHO.]

These issues have excellent pencil work by Greg LaRocque.  The art is just somewhat dated by the coloring techniques used at the time, but otherwise is the strongest aspect of these issues.

Other Notes [???]

I have to be honest.  I did not like this story.  It was four issues long and could have [and probably should have] been condensed to one issue.  It’s kind of bland, and Mark Waid does a pretty good job of making Wally come across as exceptionally whiney.  If this had been my first exposure to Wally West I would probably never have given the character another glance.

These issues are also collected in the trade titled The Flash: Born to Run.

Don’t Forget! [For Fun.]

The premiere of the Flash season 5 airs tonight on the CW!

I've been reading and collecting comics since the early 1980's. My absolute favorite comic characters are Dick Grayson, and Kitty Pryde, but I like lots of others too! I started collecting single issue comics when I was about 7 or 8 years old and it's been a lifelong passion of mine.

  1. I guess I’m gonna have to check this out! I keep thinking I’m ’bout done with the DC app, then you post something about it and I’m like “I gotta check into that…” 😛

I’ve been “focused” on the lack of Superman, and never even checked for Flash stuff…

I never caught up on the 2017-2018 seasons of the CW shows (mainly Flash and Supergirl; watched Flash to the 4-show crossover and never got back to the Flash proper) so I’m nowhere near ready to dive into the 2018 seasons (except maybe Legends for Constantine…)

I also need to remember Flash if I ever get to organizing my entire collection…

  2. Haha. I’ve already used the DC app more in a month than I have the Marvel App in a year. Why? Because I just like the characters in the DCU that much. I wish they had more of just about everything but I think I’m going to be able to get my money’s worth out of it at least.
I’ve caught up to about half of the CW shows. I’m still behind on Black Lightning and Supergirl. I don’t think I’m going to worry about it though, if I can’t get caught up before the crossover I’m just going to watch it anyway. That’s what sorta messed my up last year with watching and I got behind on everything.
:-/ Uugg. Don’t even want to think about organizing my collection. … It needs doing but I’m just so, so lazy. 🙂
